11 Ways to Find Inspiration to Uplift You

11 Ways to Find Inspiration to Uplift You

There are situations that occur that can and will try to suck the life out of you. Much of what happens in our life are merely challenges (which comes with every age) and how we face them determines our growth. I’d like to think that all the life lessons I received have shaped me. There were plenty of times when things got so severe, I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it out, but I did and grew from it. I’ll tell you what definitely helped. Drawing from people and things that bring me inspiration helped me overcome adversity. I’m always looking for ways to find inspiration to uplift me and encourage my thoughts with positive words, people, activities and environments. And to be honest, there are times when inspiration has found me because the universe knew that I was seeking it.

Circumstances in life will always occur when we least expect it and how you handle it will determine the outcome. It’s important that we look to things bigger than ourselves to help us get through the tough times (and even the moments we are feeling well to remind us of how good we got it).

Here are ways to find inspiration when you want to be uplifted:

1 Listen to inspirational and spiritual videos on YouTube. I always find the right video at the right time. It helps your mind formulate a different type of opinion and perspective about life and your thoughts. I listen to spiritual sermons mostly by Bishop TD Jakes and (his daughter) Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts. I love the way their sermons break down the word of God and helps each listener understand it better and connect their teachings with daily life experiences.

2 Meditate and/or practice yoga. Meditating helps you connect with your thoughts and gives you time to listen to your spirit. Yoga is perfect for releasing stress, exercise and becoming one with yourself/body. I have been practicing yoga more often to strengthen my mind and spirit.

3 Browse the internet for inspirational quotes. There are so many of these quotes floating the internet. It’s a great way to open your eyes and mind. It feeds your spirit by giving you a positive outlook on life. It widens your perspective.

4 Read books and blogs. Of course the good book (the Bible) is the answer and is our greatest guide of all, but there are other books about life experiences that encourage us to want to achieve better in addition. Other great reads are blogs. Blogs are meant to inspire and can provide you with so many forms of inspiration, helping you with your daily life and goals.

5 Immerse yourself in meaningful conversations. Do this with people who have wisdom, are positive and gives you the ability to learn something new. People that teach you to do good in the world are the best company to keep.

6 Inspire others. Teach people through your talent. Be authentic about where you been, where you’re going and what you did to get to the space you’re in. I feel inspired when I inspire others.

7 Listen to music that moves and uplifts you. Lauryn Hill said it best, “music is supposed to inspire”. If it doesn’t make you feel good and better, then it’s not for you. It’s obvi that Hill is one of my fave artist I listen to for inspiration.

8 Reflect on the things you learned, how you’ve changed and where you are now. I did this at the end of 2018 and although I’m not where I want to be, I’m not where I used to be. Knowing that much made me feel proud and inspired about what’s to come.

9 Listen to motivational podcast(s). There are great podcasts geared towards self improvement to supercharge you. I’m a fan of Oprah’s Soul Series Podcast. Her podcast shares in depth conversations with people from various backgrounds giving you a wealth of life boosting knowledge.

10 Look to children. Children don’t view life as heavy as we do. Remember when you were a kid. Your worries weren’t big and you believed that you can do anything. Children are innocent about life and it’s wonders. You learn to appreciate the simple things through their eyes.

11 Go for a walk and be mindful of nature (there’s beauty all around us). Use this as an opportunity to explore activities that you have never explored before or that you’ve done that gives you great joy. Even traveling the world, being adventurous creates a better quality of life.
