Being Adventurous Through Your Style

Being Adventurous Through Your Style

(Happy New Year! Now, since this post serves as my very first blog post of the year it had to be compatible with the theme. The theme I’m referring to is, “new”. I noticed that everyone is talking about what they plan to change and how different things will be in the new year with no mention of style. Whether you know this or not, change in your style has a psychological impact. I realized it more than ever in 2018 (my big year of growth and change). So how will you change up your style this year? Let’s talk adventure.)

Life is meant to be an adventure. The less you explore the less you live. The more you explore the more you live and are able to be present. One way you can be present is by being adventurous through your style. At least what I ended up discovering. This came at a period in my life when I was being challenged with who I was. The style I had gotten used to didn’t do it for me anymore because my present self wasn’t complete with where I was before. And so, the adventure through my style was an undertaking to help with that self discovery happening within me.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing

I began turning old wardrobe into transitional pieces. Doing this by combining them with new wardrobe I had fallen in love with. If it gave me an inspiring feeling and a new experience, it brought unrealized potential to the forefront. My clothing was capturing the evolution of me because I was taking my style on an adventure. What I was experiencing was helping me expose the transformation I was going through. It’s just beautiful what your style can truly do for you once you possess your truth.

For 2019 I’m challenging you to be adventurous through your style. Think of these as reasons you are ready to start being adventurous with your personal look:

*If you don’t wear it anymore that may be a sure sign that you are past that period of your life. Or maybe it just needs to be worn differently. Make use of accessories to help transform old fabrics to make them feel like new. New mind, requires newness all around you.

*The best time to change up and be adventurous with your style is when your going through some changes and growth. But again, when does that really stop. If you’re not growing than you aren’t ready to move into that next phase of your life. Start looking at clothing styles that speak to your present and future, not your past. The clothing you used to wear when you were in one frame of mind may not work in your new.

*What styles have you been afraid to try? Start small. Mix the new style with your old first to slowly step outside of your normal box. Never worn or cared for leopard print? Wear a leopard scarf with your favorite color top or pants.

*Look to influencers and your fave fashion bloggers (and even that friend’s style you adore) for an inspiration to give you ideas on how to venture out of your style norm. There’s something that they will end up pairing together you never thought looked good, but then you find out it does. Try those looks by putting your own spin on it.

*Shop for clothing you would normally look over. It’s bigger than style. You’re challenging yourself to explore and experience new. Your mind craves it. Give it what it needs.

*Be creative. What you create you become. Why not create the person you love to see in the mirror everyday. The person that’s living on purpose and their style complements it.

I hope that you are inspired by this post and think of your style as a way to provoke adventure in your life. What other ways do you believe that you can be adventurous other than the obvious, traveling?

Thank you for being so good to me by subscribing, reading and commenting on my posts within the past year. I enjoy getting to know you and that you get to know me through my posts. Please continue to include me and my blog into your life in 2019.
