Glowing Up Within

Glowing Up Within

Glow up (according to the Urban Dictionary)

1. A twist of the phrase “grow up”, referring to a person’s incredible transformation. This is usually based on increase of self-confidence, demeanor and style (and potentially one’s squad).

2. To go from the bottom to the top to the point of disbelief.

I’ve gone through an unbelievable transformation over the past few years since experiencing divorce. It’s been noticeable in the way I approach certain things in life now and my willingness to change certain habits. Another is that I’ve learnt to enjoy my alone time and getting to know myself better. I could go on and on about my sacrifices to love myself better. Even looking back at old photos and remembering the frame of mind I was in at that time makes me feel good about where I am in the present.

Dealing with pain and heartache ultimately became the best thing to happen to me, believe or not. Pain is something we can’t escape, but fortunately for us all, it’s our chance to gain many life lessons from it. After dealing with the things that hurt me from my past, it gave me a real shot at a brighter future. It was a much needed challenge that caused me to look inside, correct what was wrong and then began glowing up within from the work that I put in. Still got work to do, but my divorce was one of the best things to happen in my life because it forced me to get to know me better.

And we all know what happens after we glow up from within right?!? Our style, becomes an evolution because of the changes that are helping us become the best versions of ourselves. There’s really no way that we’ll be able to dress the same while an evolution is transpiring on the inside.

The real glow up was never external.

How you know when you’re glowing up within?

You understand your worth and set boundaries to protect it.

Not allowing others to disrupt your vibe.

Surrounding yourself with a tribe that meets you at your level or above it.

You value yourself and demand that others value you too.

You’re not afraid to challenge yourself.

You start to see the fruits from your labor.

You protect your energy so that it attracts the positive things you need.

You understand that you can only control your actions, and no one else.

You stop expecting people to treat you like you would treat them.

Love yourself unconditionally.

You regularly practice self care.

You enlighten, empower and inspire others to be great.

The way you dress reflects how you feel within so you dress accordingly and others take notice.

Your aura attracts positive vibes.

Negative people no longer have the luxury of getting a reaction from you because you realize their issues are about them, not you.

You exude confidence without trying because you’re just happy being you.
