LA Style Fashion Week: 2017 Brand Collections Runway Shows

As a fashion blogger, buyer for department stores, fashion magazine editor, lover of fashion (etc etc etc) you are compelled to attend fashion week happening around the world. From Paris to New York on down to Los Angeles, these cities are of course best known for their semi-seasonal fashion week series of fashion-forward runway shows that includes the best of the best fashion designers highlighting their latest brand collections for the upcoming season. And that’s exactly what occurred this past week at LA Style Fashion Week FW17.

LA Style Fashion Week had such an amazing line up of fashion designers with creatively provoked and unique collections that identified closely with a variety of personal styles. The brand collections on the runway ranged from edgy to chic to glamourous to dramatic and so forth.

Fashion week kicked off on Wednesday (3/8) with an opening reception that took place at Skybar inside the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood. The next day, following the mingle sesh (meant to get you amped about LAFW), the fashion shows ensued at the Pacific Design Center (PDC is also located in West Hollywood) for four days from Thursday (3/9) til Sunday (3/12).

In collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil’s Zumanity, the week wasn’t limited on entertaining performances from recording artists, comedians and of course, Cirque Du Soleil’s Zumanity performers either. When the models weren’t making appearances in brand collection pieces on the runway, there were inserted moments of entertainment which made for a fun filled event of more than just fashion.

Outdoors in the 68 degree Cali weather, the brand collections that hit the Style Fashion Week LA runway included Malan Breton, Commatteo, Shahida Parides, Moods of Norway, David Tupaz, Richard Hallmarq, Mario De La Torre, Disco Panda, Ydamys Simo, Bijan Andre, Wangliling, Thomas Wylde, Honee and Adrian Alicea. My fave collections that I was very fond of are from designer’s Malan Breton, Thomas Wylde, Shahida Parides and Commatteo. (For more info on any of these designers highlight their name then click to search for them on Google)

And I didn’t attend alone. I enjoyed LAFW with other fashion blogger beauties and newly proclaimed fashion crew – which made it extra fun. It was great to share the moment with passionate fashionistas like myself. I was present for most of LAFW except for Saturday as I declared it my rest day to avoid burn out to at least enjoy the closing day of fashion week and I am so glad that I did.

First off, putting these looks together was time consuming. Why? Because it was fashion week after-all and my outfits had to represent. I have always been inspired by the outfits worn to NYFW and Paris Fashion Week as those attending are always so creative and expressive with their personal style. So with that being said, I was very meticulous when it came down to what I was going to wear. But, if I’m being honest, towards the end of fashion week, I just threw outfits together and was pleased with the end result.

Before I let you go I cannot forget this moment that I shared with Fashion Designer Malan Breton. Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to wear one of his designs that he custom made just for me. Hey, one can dream.

Overall it was a great show of brand collections and experience. Can’t wait to attend again.

What do you think of these collections? Any of the pieces cater to your personal style? I’d love to hear from you. As always, thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to subscribe. Xo
