Finding Motivation Through Fashion

Finding Motivation Through Fashion

Clothing has power. (YES you heard that right). Clothing has the power to make you feel good and look good or feel bad and look bad. Finding motivation through fashion can happen if your choices are made with what you expect to get from your wardrobe in mind. And the way you feel when or about them at the time you’re looking for clothes may have an impact on what you buy as well.

I remember hearing someone say to “never go to the grocery store on an empty stomach because chances are you will buy the things that you may not necessarily need, but want”. I’d like to apply the same thing to shopping for clothing. Being in the mood and having a visual plan for the things that you need to dress for confidence will make for the best outcome when most needed. The way you feel about the clothing at the time of your shopping experience will more than likely be the way you feel when wearing it.

Having a fresh start after separating from my husband, I needed something to get through the healing stages and was complementary of my new attitude. I needed to feel like me again and to feel confident about the new independence journey ahead. When looking for clothing that would make me feel most confident I started to only look for colors that complemented my skin tone, styles that accentuated my best assets, clothing that gave a new outlook, accessories that offered my look personality and fabrics that I felt good in. I wanted my fashion to do for me what it looked like on the outside, inside.

It was fashion that helped motivate me one look at a time and because it did, I felt self-assured. Fashion has the ability to make your day what it is, which was important on the days I may not have felt my best if it was not with the help of fashion. As soon as I would put my clothes on I felt confident enough to take on the day no matter what lied ahead.

Remember to choose fashion that makes you feel true to you. Being true to you is the greatest motivation of all. Always find motivation in what you wear so no matter what you’re growing through you feel good because you look good in it.

Have you found motivation in the clothing you wear? Do you agree that clothing has power? What fashion choices makes you feel motivated when wearing them?
