Purple Rain

Purple Rain

Purple Rain

Hey loves. I don’t know about you, but I’m still in disbelief that we lost the legendary musical genius that is Prince, The Artist, The Purple One, Fashion Icon, Instrumentalist, Virtuoso, the list can go on and on when speaking of such a prolific person. His music and philanthropy gave so much to the world. As many of us around the world did something to commemorate his sudden passing, I wore my purple blouse in his honor. We love him, miss him already and his music will live on forever.

Today I am speaking on beauty. My nail art inspiration was thought of because of the beauty of Prince. The nail art design I created in his honor is called Purple Rain. I used a shade of purple and baby blue nail polish colors to complete my nail look. One thing I do love is trying and exploring different nail colors. Oddly enough, I planned to create a different nail art design, but changed the idea because it was a perfect opportunity for me to pay tribute. Maybe next time I’ll create a nail art design for another one of my favorite Prince songs, Diamonds and Pearls.

We all go to the nail salon and see nail art designs that we love and get because of reasons we do, but what about creating a design of your own and naming it something that gives meaning to you. I love getting things done by professionals, but don’t mind a good ol’ DIY from time to time. Especially when I can save money that way. I’m sure I got some DIY sistahs that agree with me. 🙂 Well this was definitely a DIY nail art using nail polish Sinful Colors (a non-toxic polish) that helped me create the so convenient nail inspiration.

This is how I did it. First I put a clear base coat on my nails. To create the perception of the sky I applied two coats of the first color [Sail LA Vie]. The second color [Amethyst] was swept on the top of each nail using one coat right down the middle as my purple rain. Afterward, I applied one clear top coat for a fine finish. It’s not perfect, but it’s creative and fun.

I’m sure there are other ways you can come up with a nail art design named after the Academy Award winning song, but this was the way I created mine.

I hope you liked this post. What do you think of my tribute to Prince? Will you create your own nail art of something that gives meaning to you?

XO
