Hey my sweet fashionista. Like all the others, Style Fashion Week Los Angeles has rolled around again with a week of fashion shows in the evenings from October 12th to the 15th to introduce the Spring/Summer 2018 (or SS18) fashion collection lines presented by each of the designers at the beautiful Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, CA. And although it’s not New York or Paris Fashion Week, LA can definitely hold its own as one of the places to be to see the latest in fashion too. After all, it IS Hollywood.
The great thing about StyleFW (Style Fashion Week) in LA is that anyone that loves fashion and the designers presenting their collection during the event can attend with the purchase of a ticket on the day(s) you want to take part and be present at the fashion shows. And for us bloggers (always the perfect time to get together with and meet other blogger babes) and anyone in the media field, you can register for a media pass for free entry to the event on all four days. The other thing I love about StyleFW is that all of the fashion shows are in the same setting so you get to see all the fashion designers collections on the same runway one after the next. Talk about convenient.
Now lets get to the main ingredient, the fashion collections and why not share my faves and hopefully they become your faves too. That is why you’re reading this post right? Right. So let’s get into it.
While I didn’t attend all four days (missed out on opening night which occurred on Thursday) your girl was present the last three days of the event (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and there were several collections that caught my eye. There were many great fashion designer’s and collections, but Sonjia Williams, Mario De La Torre, David Tupaz, Mint Swim, Grace Moon and Romeo + Juliet Couture had me so thrilled about the artistry of their designs.
But – while I wish I could focus this blog post on all of the designers collections from StyleFW SS18, I will at least share a few of the designers work with you that were on the tip top of my list. Otherwise – you will be scrolling through a whole lot of photos I took on my canon.
Side rant: Not sure how they do it, but if I was a fashion designer and had to prepare designs from my collection to hit the runway, I would have the hardest time deciding which designs to debut. Indecisive people problems, lol.
Something By Sonjia (by Sonjia Williams) // Sonjia’s designs are contemporary, sporty, street and edgy. And, the designs are affordable too. She got her first break sharing her talent as a contestant on the tenth season of Project Runway and also season four of Project Runway All Stars. I just remember during her set at the event (since I’m a fan) her models walking to the smooth sounds of Solange’s hit record “Cranes in the Sky”.
Romeo + Julie Couture (by David Shamouelian) // Another contemporary fashion line with chic, elegant and modern designs. Fashion Designer, David Shamouelian artfully unites European influences and American culture with on trend and cutting edge fashion for women. The styles that hit the runway was so youthful, sophisticated and you bet, couture. You can find the fashion line at Saks Off 5th, Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx and of course their personal online store.
Grace Moon (by Grace Moon) // The Fashion Designer’s collection is elegant with tailored details. Grace Moon takes from her South Korean roots, incorporating traditional Hanbok clothing into many of her colorful, silk designs. Her designs are so free-spirited and whimsical. The designs that walked the runway set was decorated with beautiful flowers or Korean symbols. There was a lot of use of bold colors and patterns.
So of course I have to share what I wore during Style Fashion Week with you. I loved putting my looks together to strut and pose on the red carpet of the fashionable event. And neither of my looks broke the bank either.
